    shame really - they pay no council tax, yet the cost of clearing up student ghettoes is a huge burden on the people who do

    Surely it is absolute peanuts compared to the costs of baby sitting school children who learn very little at school, not to mention the care home fees for pensioners with no money (left?) and relatives who have more or less abandoned them?

    No excuse for anti social slob behaviour by students, perhaps their parents brought them up with no concept of civic pride, let along consideration for the neighbours - Local councils for several years now, have had powers to discourage the establishment of student ghettos I think?
