I'll try and keep this as short as possible.

I was a self employed courier, worked dried up so the courier company took me on as employed, I started work and an application form was apparently send to my house (it never arrived), later 1 got handed to me and I filled it in including the 2 references they required,

a couple of months later I gets a letter in my pigeon hole saying the references haven't been received, I ask my ref's and neither have received anything from the co. asking for a ref. I then get another letter saying the same thing and it must be sorted out within 2 weeks or I'm out the door, I tell them that nothing has been received and gave them 2 new ref's, its now a week later and still the ref's are waiting their letters, if I do get paid off (as I expect) where do I stand? 4 ref's and none have received anything from the company :mad:

ps, a fellow worker is also in the same position, his ref's have received anything.

Can't you just ask your 2 ref's for the references in person and hand them in, instead of waiting for the company to sort it?

I would do it the other way round. Get your company to give you the reference requests, hand these to your referees, and give them the money to send them back recorded delivery, so the company can't say they haven't received them......
