2 years and 3 months to go.....
I suppose now that Milliband has done an about-face on 10% tax that u-turns are now an honourable and desirable political action. However, since the coalition has u-turned on a policy about twice a week since getting into government it's difficult to see where you're coming from.0 -
How can he lose grip?
He never had it in the first place.Signature removed club member No1.
It had no link, It was not to long and I have no idea why.0 -
What I am surprised at is the fact they are surprised that sales are falling.
If you have less freely disposable incomeand prices are rising for your basic commodities then they aren't going to be going up.
Analysts were disappointed apparently - perhaps they should revise their expectations!
Heavy snow, in winter, who would have thought it.
The biggest contributor to the fall:-
The ONS said that sales at petrol stations were the biggest contributor to the drop in the amount spent.
No doubt that this will need to be covered by a rise in duty .

The media reports that were going into recession on every fall, and we will be in growth on every rise, no matter which sector it comes from!0

I think most indicators are pointing towards positive q1 2013 GDP. DLW will be gutted as he is desperate for a triple dip recession.0

Watch the Markit PMI, it's the best leading indicator. Currently it's at 51.7 which implies GDP growing.0 -
whats very worrying is that food sales fell in jan by 2.6% to the same level as 2004,thats 9 years ago, proves how hard people are belt tightening
as for PMI its been wrong before and could be wrong now, most indicators are commentators expect a negative gdp in Q1,the key is still construction which wont see much if any real improvement this year0 -
