    If it's a week 1 tax code then the tax should not have been anywhere near what the OP says it was. The only way to see what is going on is to look at the full details from these payslips, untill then anything that is said is just a guess.
  • £84 deducted? About £8.40 due? Decimal place?
  • Ultimately she should get it back (asssuming it is incorrect -which it very much sounds like it is). Unfortunately being so close to the end of the tax year if it doesn't get resolved soon she may have to write to the tax office with details of all her earnings and get them to investigate and give it back to her (which could take many months :( ).
    I hope she can get things sorted soon.
