I was rather worried based on other threads about the home insurance renewal due on 1st March and getting a decent price/insurer. As it turns out I needn't have been! More Than (current insurers) are aware of the BR and were happy for me to continue by monthly payments if I wished. However, I swapped insurers as managed to get a quote nearly £100 less than last years and the renewal who noted BR and were also happy for monthly if wanted. I haven't paid monthly as we had money for it waiting, but was very happy about it
I've double checked and all the documents are fully noted with my BR too.

Can you tell us who the insurer is please? I too have been quoted less than my current year with Churchill and as long as I apply online they will let me pay monthly (They said on the phone that they only credit check over the phone, not online) I told them that I am currently BR and thy said that it is not something they are concerned about

Although I have found myself lowering my excess and adding on bits to the insurence that I dont need to bump up the price so that my premium stays roughly the same as I am very close to IPA land. Is that the right thing to do?0 -

Not quite, fermi...Morethan were original insurers.....1step obtained a cheaper quote....However, I swapped insurers as managed to get a quote nearly £100 less than last years and the renewal who noted BR and were also happy for monthly if wanted.No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0

It was via Dial Direct and insurers are Royal Sun Alliance. I think More Than is also RSA? In which case they seem to be very BR friendly in there approach

Had reason to take insurance with this company (Dial Direct).....what a huge mistake!!
Avoid like the plague and this may be applicable to a lot of insurers;
1. Change of address fee = Kerching £30 please!! (moved house)
2. Policy cancellation fee = Kerching £70 please!! (car sold)
the policy was only for £180!! Rip off scam artists who insist you mail policy documents back or no refund of insurance owing. The fact they only issue policy documents via email in the first place takes the cake!!0 -
I was with Abbey (now Santander) for years with my home insurance. My banrkuptcy never affected my home insurance nor the price I paid. I was honest with them of course but it did not change anything.0
