Notice of intended bailiff removal (previous tenants)

Wonderful saga of what was meant to be dream house. I have had bailiffs knock before regarding previous tenants. Ive never let them in but showed them my AST to prove that I now rent the property and have no connection.

Ive just come out of hospital and found this letter on the mat. It seems to relate to parking fines and says:
"As you have failed to respond to previous notifications, further preparations are underway to remove sufficient goods and chattels to satisfy the amount due.
You are advised to contact the removal bailiff within the next 24 hours to avoid such action. If your vehicle is located away from this address it will be siezed immediately and additional bailiff costs will be payable.

Take note that if you have recently changed your vehicle, this may also be considered by the bailiff for seizure"

I know from previous discussions with bailiffs that between the previous tenants and the ll (who appear to be related) there are three cars registered to this address-and then my motability car. They also dont seem to have updated their address with any of these people as Im still taking post for them everyday since we moved in last June. I got myself a free vistaprint self inking stamp that says "no longer at this address", I stamp the items and pop them in the post box when I do my milk run every day.

How do I deal with this? I have various appointments today but expect to me home after school-so also if I dont respond immediately, I didnt post and run.I really appreciate any help.

Hi there - a debt can only be enforced against the person that owes the money. Therefore, regardless that the previous tenants have run up debts it doesn't mean you are responsible for them. If you have nothing to do with the tenants and your car is clearly registered in your name etc, then if they were to take any action to seize your car I would immediately call the Police and report the theft of your vehicle, which is exactly what it would be - the bailiff cannot, absolutely cannot take any old assets he fancies just because the person - note "person" who owes the money, happened once to live at your address. I would recommend calling the bailiff company, explaining that you have had no connection whatsoever with the person that owes the money and that if they harrass you anymore, and certainly if they think about going anywhere near your car, you will be calling the Police to take action - would back this up in writing to. Most bailiffs, despite their reputation, will not seize something unless they are 100% sure that it belongs to the defaulter.

Thank you, I dont hold much hope for help from my councelor though. I approached him with regards to the disrepair of the house to try and help us get a result from the letting agent. After 3 emails to them he said it was too difficult and washed his hands of us :(
