I've only been comping from here for about 6 months and during that time I have seen a dozen or more ITV winners on here, all of whom entered online! Most, if not all, were from Real Deal though, which is among the "smaller" prizes (ha ha, not that I'm calling two grand a small prize)
I'd be really interested though to see how many of the really huge prizes (This Morning, Daybreak, Loose Women etc) are won online. I can't recall seeing any winners from those recently on here?0 -
Hi
I have seen a list of the winners on the ITV winners thread, but have 2 questions if anyone can answer please?
Firstly do the winners click on the link from here to the relevant itv comp or open up itv seperately.
Secondly why do some of the ITV comps use red "ink" and others use black? Are they valid?
Thanks for reading.0 -
Please can we have thread about this as a sticky..
From the below...The Winner Selector works by taking in all entries to a competition from each entry route, and assigning a unique random number to every entry. This is done independently of the original entry method, and assures that each entry has the same chance of being selected, irrespective of the method of entry.

Case number: 1-186464146·Case title: Monitoring of competitions on TV shows·Preamble: What monitoring has been carried out on competitions broadcast onThis Morning and Loose Women·Group: Standards·Closed Date: 20/09/2011From:Adam BurtonSent:20 September 2011 14:41To:

Dear ["]I am writing regarding your request for information from Ofcom.
You said:“Regarding my telephone conversation this afternoon, please let me have full details of thevarious spot checks that have been carried out regarding the competition shown on This
Morning plus also the various spot checks that have been carried out on the competition shown
on Loose Women under the freedom of information act.”
Your request, which we received on 22 August, has been considered under the Freedom ofInformation Act 2000 (the Act).In response:Ofcom has not performed spot checks on these competitions but is satisfied that ITV hascompliance procedures in place to ensure the competitions in these programmes are run fairly
and that those entries submitted online (and therefore without charge to the consumer) are
treated in the same way as those submitted by text or over the phone.
ITV Broadcasting’s licence requires them to ensure that their compliance procedures forcompetitions involving premium rate services (PRS) include a system of verification by an
appropriate third party. To clarify their procedures ITV have said:In terms of specific programmes, PRS Verification is an annual audit on a sample ofprogrammes and is carried out for us by Deloitte LLP. We therefore do not verify every episode
of every programme that contains a PRS event. But equally, we do not control which
programmes are selected by Deloitte for the verification sample in any one audit period.
Deloitte ensures that our licence obligations are met by including a sufficient sample across the
relevant period such that their annual report conforms to the ISAE3000 standard for assurance
engagements.
ITV is satisfied that this approach and the control objectives that are subject to the auditprocess are sufficient to satisfy its verification obligations. We would assure the viewer
concerned that we take our licence obligations very seriously and comply with our verification
requirements fully, as reflected in our public annual statement:
To clarify their procedures in relation to the programmes you mention specifically and toaddress the point you made about premium rate telephone entrants and web entries to
competitions they added:
ITV operates an independently developed winner selector tool under licence from a third party.
This is known as Winner Selector’ and is a market leading solution used for managing manycompetitions across the UK.
The Winner Selector works by taking in all entries to a competition from each entry route, and assigning a unique random number to every entry. This is done independently of the original entry method, and assures that each entry has the same chance of being selected, irrespective of the method of entry. The random number generator component of Winner Selector has been independently verifiedby an auditor appointed by the licensor, and the processes that ensure all entries to a
competition are included for each winner selection are regularly verified by ITV’s independent
auditors. ITV’s winner selection process is therefore robust and reliable and is applied
consistently to all ITV competitions. We can further confirm that Loose Women competition entrants who have used the free entryroute have been picked as winners, as well as those who have used paid entry routes.I hope this information is helpful. If you have any queries then please contactinformation.requests@ofcom.org.uk.
