Family comps

Have you ever entered competitions that are for a 'family' aka 2 adults, 2 children without having a 'family'?
It just really annoys me because some of the family comps I would love to enter but I don't have or know 2 children
If you enter and don't have a 'family' and win, would it matter? Would it be mean to enter?

The thing is, the prize is 'aimed' at a family. It's a bit like some comps specify "over 50's" or "couples" or "kids" or "Over 18's".... if I don't fit the criteria for that competition, then I don't enter it! I leave it for those that do fit the criteria.
Likewise, I work at a school - the majority of the holiday competitions (including family ones) can't be taken during school holidays - this rules me out.... so I don't enter!:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
I agree with Kisto. I would not personally enter a kids comp or family holiday comp if I did not have children as there are plenty of holiday competition for couples and singletons that families can't enter.
However, would I think you were wrong for entering? No, it's just not something I would do x£630/ £20140 -
Thanks for the responses. It does make sense. I guess I shan't then.0

to me it depends - for instance if it's a day out one of my friends has young children so I would enter so they could come too - often it just says two adults (nothing about them having to be parents) but I don't enter if it's a holiday as my GSs are too young to go away without mum & dadproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0

I don't enter any comps that don't "suit" me personally. For instance my kids are all school age now so I would never enter a competition for a pram or baby goods, as I think along the lines of, if I were to win it, OK I could find someone to pass it on to or I could sell it, but that would be unfair to people who genuinely want or need baby goods. (just an example)
So if I didn't have kids, I wouldn't enter for a trip or a holiday hoping to just go with my partner, as I'd feel that was possibly taking the prize away from a genuine family who'd like the prize!
Hope that makes sense!
On the other side of the coin, I pretty much NEVER enter family comps anyway as they are almost always for a family of four, and we're a family of five!0 -
I enter them!
If a day out or holiday is for 2 adults and 2 children I definitely enter, why not.
If only 2 adults turn up for the day out/holiday I don't think anyone is going to get mad that there aren't 2 children as well!
It's the same as holidays and spa breaks for 2.
Not everyone will have someone to go with or they may want to go alone, so they will take their prize but just on their own.0 -
Also many people enter holidays meant for 2 even when they have children in the hope that they can negotiate further places, so entering family holidays when you don't have children is no different to that in my opinion.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

It depends on the prize. If it's a kids prize with parents tagging along I don't enter (eg. Family trip to Legoland). If it's an adult's prize with kid's tagging along then I might well enter (eg. Family trip to Buckingham Palace). I regard it like I would a hotel stay including dinner, breakfast and a spa treatment - I don't feel obliged to eat the meals or have the treatment just because it's included in the prize.0

I managed to negotiate before for an extra adult. But it's not guaranteed that you will always be able to do that. Depends how mice the company wants to be0
