:jHi everyone
Have decided to start a diary to motivate me into driving down our debt. A little about me, I'm 31, newly married last year, have 2 wonderful step children, 2 beautiful cats, a lovely home and a really awesome husband. Am really very happy with everything I have in life
However, debt is really interfering with my perfect life! We are both terrible with money, got into loads of debt for our wedding, honeymoon and tbh before that too- we really didn't think about what we could afford and just bought it regardless. I did start looking at our money situation last year and managed to pay off a bit and have been working on it since we got back from honeymoon but this month has been terrible for me just over spending so feel like I've had a real LBM today and want to get back on track and focused on losing the debt!
My DH is completely on board and let's me manage all our money and will do anything I ask, he does tend to lose track a bit and come home with a DVD or chocolate that we don't need but his heart is in the right place
It's me that I really need to work on!!!! :rotfl: I'm terrible for buying food (shows on my waistline too although am tackling that as well!)
We have a good income, able to afford our debts easily but we overspend otherwise. I always pay the minimum payment, try to overpay a bit more through the month but its never as much as I originally hope for! We get paid in a weeks time and I really need to sit down and work out some budgets for stuff. Have been putting stuff aside for the cars and gifts which I think is working quite well
Need to really look at food though- this is where we waste SOOOOOO much money!!!
We have a lot that we want to do this year, that's why I'm now focusing harder on this debt. Will write down our goals for the year....
GOALS FOR 2013
1. Pay off as much as possible on our debt
2. Lose weight- need to lose about 2 and a half stone- lost 8 lbs already!
3. Move house
4. Start a family
Some massive goals in there- far too much for a year I know! Our life has been a bit crazy since we met. We got engaged within a year, married a year later and are now 6 months down the line! It's been a roller coaster but am beyond happy so enjoying the ride
Going to try my best to keep this diary updated, I did have another one but wanted to start afresh
Don't really expect people to read my ramblings as I do like to go on a bit :rotfl: Love this site and the forums so am always on peeking into diaries and getting so many hints, tips and motivation. Am grateful to any that anyone has for me too!
Here's to the final LBM  It'll be a celebratory debt free drink soon enough!

Grrrrr overspent massively this weekend on going out for a friends birthday. Had a lovely night but spent far too much on drinks and taxi. Has really made me think about nights out and cutting back a bit. Although I will still go, I won't spend as much. Another mini LBM!
Am off for next 2 days so want to do lots but seem to have lost my motivation- probably somewhere in this tip of a house! Done absolutely nothing so far today so need to find that motivation and get moving! Plans are to do washing, maybe ironingand get tidied up. Always think that when my house is clean and tidy my mind is too
Get paid on Friday, thank god. Has been a very spendy month so looking to save a bit more next month. Should be do-able! Going to do some meal planning and save some money on food, sick of wasting so much and eating rubbish so this is a plan! Have got weight watchers tomorrow night and am dreading the scales, have eaten so much rubbish the last week. Just need to brush myself down and start again!
Sorry for such a waffling post, I do like to spraff on :rotfl:

Going out makes it very hard to stick to a budget. You can just take cash and leave your card at home, so you won't overspend, but then what if something goes wrong and you can't afford to get home? It's the thing I worry about most, so I do always carry mine (and then overspend after a few drinks, when I am feeling less disciplined!).
I'm not drinking in February, which should help (not that I go out often anyway!), but I can't imagine continuing that long term!I'm a Money and Debt Adviser for a homelessness and housing charity in Scotland. Totally agree! I took out cash (which was actually more than I reall y wanted to spend) spent that then put drinks on my card?! Very silly
The not drinking idea is great, I'm doing weight watchers anyway and hoping to start a family soon so not drinking is a very wise idea
Today's plans are to do more than I did yesterday which won't be difficult! Going out to look for a door for our kitchen. It is for the boiler cupboard, we did have a panel over it but looked awful so hoping to get a door. Is an old flat so going to a place which has loads of reclaimed doors, hopefully more :money: and we will get the right size!
Other plans are to have a good tidy up and do some cleaning, hubby off too so he is doing this whilst I'm on hereWe are getting my stepson later on and I have weight watchers tonight (expecting a massive gain!)
:money: wise, not much happening today. Have got a small package to post of wedding things that I sold on a wedding forum so will do that. Will have a £9 payment for that. Not much but it all helps :T Payday on Friday, hurry up!!!
