How would i secure funding for an OU course?

Hi guys
My niece (soon to be 21) is looking to do an OU course which is going to cost her £379 in one payment or an extra £100 by instalments.
She is currently unemployed and is doing part time voluntary work for a charity shop. All she wants to do is expand her chances of job seeking as the government courses are rubbish at this.
Is there any way she can get help with paying for the course and for supplies etc related to the course.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

I am starting an OU course next month. I am paying for it myself, as it is a short course, however, I will be applying for funding later in year.
Heres the link she can register at: http://www.studentfinance.direct.gov.uk
As she is unemployed, she will not have to pay anything back. If she is in work by 2016 (the date you have to start paying the loan back) she will only have to pay an amount per month if earning over £21,000 a year.
The OU are very good with advice, and finance questions. Bear in mind though, that funding has to be applied for within a certain time-frame, however, it can be applied for before a place on a course has been confirmed.
I don't see why she wouldn't qualify.0
