Calling all self employed plumbers/heating engineers.

Right, my brother, as you may know from previous posts on here, has recently become self employed plumbing and heating engineer.

I was talking in the pub last the other night to a friend who is also a plumbing and heating engineer. He asked how much my brother charges, so I told him, £25 per hour, plus materials.

He laughed and asked if he wanted to contract for him as at that price he's well below the average.

So, I'm wondering is he charging too little?

What is the average charge?

What do you charge?

(My brother lives in the Oldham/Rochdale area (Near Manchester))

I'm sure you'll find something if you search online - just one hit gave me this indicator, although it's from 2005.

I would say he is below average, but if it is enough for him I don't think it is a bad thing.

I would rather employ someone at £25 an hour than twice that amount! x

I would also like to know any thoughts on this one! My hubbie is self employed Corgi heating/ plumbing engineer. We charge £200 + VAT per day, based on 8 hours @ £25.00. We are in Wiltshire/Bath area. Thanks.
