Notice Period?

Hi,
been working for a company for just over two years, well effectively one company but it recently went into liquidation with a new company starting up trading exactly the same with us "transferred" as employees.

Possibly been offered another job (went looking as my existing employer is basically in its death throws) they want me to start ASAP possibly within a week, what is the minimum notice period I can give my existing employer, does it change things that the Company went into liquidation recently and we are now employed by the "new" company?
every time I manage to get one more breath into this body, I will sing a song of thanks to you my brothers, my sisters, my friends, may your sleep be peaceful, and angels sing sweetly in your ears.

    What does your contract say?

  • Ah yes forgot to say, never been given one, or particulars of employment, only paperwork regarding the Job I have is the offer letter from just over two years ago.

From an HR perspective the company is a shambles, the Company was liquidated by the Directors as they had not paid any PAYE/VAT etc to HMRC, no staff handbook, rules, policies etc.

    Yes, I agree, one week.

They would have to give you two weeks if they were giving you notice as you had worked 2 years.

good luck in your new job
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Thanks, just need to wait for an offer letter from the new one.
