How many compititions are the winners entering?

  • Its all down to luck really, obviously the more you enter the more chances you have of winning each prize. Technically you could enter 100 in a day and your name could be pulled out that hat on each and every one!! I know its pretty much impossible but you just never know. I go through phases like many others have said and maybe average about 1 win a month I don't know how many I enter but in hours sometimes one or two a night after work and if its a weekend most of the day when the chores are done :)

I usually do an hour before work (I wake very early) and a 2-3 hours most evenings once the cooking and chores are done. It keeps me busy when my family are watching TV and generally busy with their own interests. I enter more at weekends but still try to stick to mornings and evenings (I'm being self-indulgent this weekend as it's my birthday :D).

I could happily enter all day, every day when I'm not at work, but I don't want to stop doing other things like seeing friends and family, spending time with the kids and OH, exercising and so on.

I do tend to more in Winter and when the weather is bad but still try to keep it under control. I love to win, but it is definitely the thrill of entering (all those possibilities!) that does it for me, so I don't mind when I have dry spells. :)

Personally, I don't think I do more than 30/40 a day. It might be even less than that tbh. I do the TAB/Chat mag ones at alternative weekends that might push the tally up to about 50, but I don't think I have ever done 100 in a day.
I've done really well over the last 5 years I've been comping, it's all down to that little bit of luck I suppose. My biggest wins are in my sig, but I've had lots of little wins that make it all worthwhile.
As long as I win at least one thing a month, I'm quite happy.:D
    Be lucky

I've always wondered, when people enter the take a break / chat puzzle type comps, do they count it as 1 comp or if there's 10 answers to submit, you count it as 10 comps.
I try spend a couple hours a day entering comps and try enter 50+ a day but I do have some days where I just don't have the time or I can't be bothered entering them. Not had a win for a couple months since I won a digital camera and a tablet in the same day :-)

February Wins - Leather filofax, Ted Baker pen and case, Orla kiely notebook, Nail polish

I count each issue as one competition. I suppose, technically speaking, they're really several competitions each, but I've never seen it like that.

Roboform is very helpful for entering comps quickly, as are email signatures. I probably enter 50-100 comps in the hour before I leave for work, then do another 150-200 comps late at night. Being a bit of an insomniac helps.

Hi,on such as TAB etc I do not even think what the count is as I gave up counting entries about two years back.In that year I entered about 22,000 separate comps.
I think counting can be counterproductive & that you would be as well to enter at a level that you feel comfortable with & still makes you want to comp.Becoming too target driven may just deter you if the wins do not come.
I had one of my best wins,a trip to NY,prior to using MSE comps & it was when I entered about 50 per week.
    Just my view :-)

That's really good advice, comping should be a fun (and occasionally productive) way to relax. That's what it is for me. I do it because I really enjoy entering and it keeps me busy.

That's a fab win weeowens, a New York trip is one of my ultimate dreams.

I was wondering this myself. I started comping in 2006 and up to 2010, my wins averaged about 3-4k per year. I used to enter 40-50 per day.
Then everything changed when so many went on facebook and twitter. I only do twitter on a Friday lunchtime as that's when most of the twitter ones run (although not many big prizes). I do some facebook but definitely not all.

I would therefore say I still enter around 50 per day except nowadays I hardly win a thing! I have come to the conclusion that I am wasting a lot of time for little or no reward. That wasn't the case 3 years ago when I was getting 5-10 wins per month and most months I had a prize worth over £100 on its own.

I am now just entering comps with prizes over £100 like someone else mentioned. I will enter for smaller prizes if it's something I really want. This means my wins and volume will be less than most other people's but when I get a win, it will be something decent. I don't like to spend more than 30 to 45 mins daily now due to my severe lack of wins! I work full-time so I have to decide how much of my free time is worth dedicating to comping when I just never win anymore.

I have however won some fab things between 2006 and 2010 including 3 holidays, a spa break, two laptops, and £1400 on Magnum. I don't think I'll get that again.

    :(

I have entered the Jet2 Party on a Plane thinking that not many entries will get 100 people on their plane to qualify for voting. For those of you who are disillusioned with not winning, feel free to join my plane. You never know. I have 44 people on now but need 100 by Friday. It's Leeds-Bradford to Geneva 27/28 July & the plane is named Jet's Eau after the famous Jet d'Eau fountain in Geneva & has a United Nations theme,

    Good luck!
  • Those who enter Twitter comps, how do you find them? Do you search certain hashtags on Twitter, such as #competition?

I've only just started doing comps and I'm currently working my way backwards through the comps forum.
