Depends how big, and what you perceive as big. The top 'jobs' still mean you are working for someone, so are appointed by someone who thinks you're capable. If they appoint someone inappropriately, they're just rubbish at their own jobs ;-)

    You worked for PanAm presumably......

I did! Can you believe they make us pay for our uniforms up front?! Luckily they accept company cheques.
  • Some great stories.
  • A relative "padded out" her CV to get a PA job for a lawyer who worked for himself. She didn't have a lot of qualifications, but was a natural at the job and knew she could do it. She was practically running the firm within a couple of months and having an affair with the boss too (he's now retired and they're now married!) I think she came clean about the qualifications once he realised how utterly indispensible (or maybe fanciable?!) she was. :rotfl:

I managed to get a job as a cardial brain surgeon in the neurology department of a large London hospital for a few weeks last summer.

It wasn't until the 8th or 9th formal NHS audit into patient deaths when they finally caught on!!! Man you should have seen the looks on their faces.

Fun for a while, but now I'm banged up for the next 18-20 years.

Had a good laugh reading this one. When do you go to prison?

Wasn't what you would call a big job, but a few years ago I applied for an audio typist job in a firm of accountants, the part time hours really appealed to me as I had young children - however I can type but not audio, anyway I got the job and on the first day was given lots of audio tapes to type up - well every single document was wrong!

The main accountant called me in and I admitted that I had never done this type of work, he asked what else I could do, I had done some computer work previously, well he said, they were just introducing a new software system called "word processing" and would I like to try working in that department, Istayed for quite a few years and gained a lot of experience.
