The Titanic hit an iceberg and sank on its maiden voyage....
....interesting choice for a first date ;-)
Whats wrong with coffee or just a wander in the rain?0 -
First dates..simples..a meal where you can sit, chat, eat. It has a definite start, a definite end ,enough space to chat and some diversion should the conversation dry a little.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

First date I would avoid the cinema.
I would actually avoid a meal too, but that depends on how well (or even if!) you know the other person. If you don't hit it off straight away a full blown dinner can get awkward
Start off with a coffee/walk, and if things goes well then maybe stop off for lunch or something then?Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
not to be missed a day at the ulster folk and transport museum
"Why not try your hand at straw rope making and horse shoe throwing? You can watch the sheep dogs at work and see the donkeys as they go about their daily routine."

He's into machinery but it's too far away otherwise this would have been perfect. Anything like this at the M1 side of Belfast with machinery etc?0 -

The Andy Warhol exhibition is on at the MAC (behind St Anne's Cathedral) and it's free. Pretty cool, whether you're 'into' art or not. There are some cafes and restaurants nearby. The food in the MAC looked really good too but my girlfriend and I went to the Italian place beside it instead (called Coppi) which was excellent and not too expensive.0

How well do you know him!? If internet dating and this is not only a first date, but also a first meeting, I would urge a bit of caution about planning anything too in depth. If this is the scenario, less is more, a bit of a walk and a few drinks - what works on a computer, in text and on the phone does not always work in person and it is horrible to find yourself stuck if the spark doesn't happen.
Assuming otherwise, try to focus on something you both like and don't just think of something he would want to do - you're definitely not that far in to do that! Agree with others that cinema is a horrible first date... it was ok as a youngster because it was a great place to get a first kiss but does nothing for trying to get to know someone.Always overestimating...0
