  • NRT here as well - and I haven't received any feedback.

On the plus side, my payment arrived yesterday.

Nrt for me too, first time in ages. No feedback for me either, Lexilex do you think we haven't got feedback because we've been with LF for longer?
  • Bonjour Bizzie. Thank you. You are right. I've just followed your advice. Big mistake. As I can see, everyone is getting NRT today even though it is written that workload is extremely high. It is just disappointing sometimes.

I doubt that's it as a bunch of us all started around the same time in Feb and some of us have feedback and some don't.

Does anyone know of any UK raters that have been with LF for longer than 6 months and therefore have been through a renewal?
  • I think that LF only started recruiting in the UK in January/February, so those who joined then would be the first tranche, and therefore due for renewal in July/August.

(That fits in with the timing of LB announcing they were seeking to increase the number of UK raters and running incentives for existing raters to put forward candidates: I did suggest they should look again at their 11 month rule and just retain experienced raters but as usual that didn't fly.)

My renewal is due mid-Aug. Not expecting another contract though!

Ah that's interesting. Thank you. Will be interesting to see how many people get renewed. Hopefully LF will realise that a lot of us have never done this work before and will see it as a good thing to keep us on as we are learning rather than ditch us and have to start again with new people. Have no idea how much a bad review impacts on your chance of being renewed - I'm thinking a lot so don't hold out much hope for me unfortunately.
  • I'm only making this up convincingly, but - I think the main client asked both LB and LF to make sure they had a substantial number of UK raters on board for 2013.

LB already had UK raters, so sought to increase their numbers.

LF started to recruit UK raters, but didn't have the mechanisms in place to replicate the support it offers US raters and is only starting now to do things like offer individual feedback. With any luck they'll see that it makes sense to support raters and help them improve rather than not renew contracts and have to start afresh with novices.

(This last paragraph isn't necessarily accurate: why did only some raters get feedback (I didn't)? And other nationalities' raters don't get the support/incentives that US raters do.)

I hope you're right. It does seem more logical to work with the people they've already got. There is a learning curve with this job and you would expect people to be better at it in their second 6 months. I do get the feeling that the UK side of it is relatively new but hopefully they are starting to put things in place to put us on a par with the US raters. Guess we'll see in a couple of months when renewal dates start coming around.
