First time buyer - Natwest

Hi all!
I'm new here. Would just like some reassurance please! We are applying for a mortgage through Natwest. Its the only bank that will accept my scholarship income so we have no choice there. We briefly talked to them on the phone and they confirmed how much we can borrow so we are about to make the application now.
We are putting a deposit now for a new built home and they pressurise us to exchange contracts within a month which I know is very ambitious. 8 months ago we another sale fell through due to the sellers changing their mind but our broker had already done a credit check and all looked perfect. I anticipate our credit check to be perfect this time as well!
I guess my question is, if all looks ok what are the chances of something going wrong? I get that you never know... but was just wondering! And anyone got experience with Natwest as to how quick they are? The guy on the phone said 4-6 weeks which didn't sound very promising!
Thank you!

Nat west are very quick if all the information is submitted from day one. No reason why a decision within a week and then subject to survey. The initial agreement with them tends to highlight what information they wish to clarify with you and so you should have had these questions by now.
Thankfully they are one of the lenders that still think outside the box

Thank you so much! They didn't ask for anything extra, just 3 last payslips of both my bursary payment and my husband's income, bank statements and proof of id. It was all pretty straightforward so hopefully it will be quick!0

Hi
Natwest took a month to get back to me with an offer, as they asked me to submit documents on several occasions for one reason or another. Very annoying! Had they not lost the documents then I feel they could have offered within a week or so. The valuation was completed quite quickly, just issues with the documents.
Thanks
