gmac rfc refunds?

Hi All,
first ever thread so forgive me for any mistakes.
i previously had a mortgage with gmac rfc 5 years ago and looking at a few of the older threads thought that i might have a case/chance or getting some of my money back when i was getting charged £50.00 a month fee for paying £30.00a month arrears.
however, i tried ringing gmac on their 0800 number but no reply and on investigating further i found out they've withdrawen all the ir mortgage products or sold them on.
has anyone been in a similar position and is their any chance of payback and how?? thanks
