What happens to your SERPS NI contributions if you leave your job?

About eleven years ago I started work at Barclaycard and joined their pension scheme, after five years I left Barclaycard and thought nothing further about it however it now occurs to me that for the last six years I have no idea what's been happening to my NI contributions and as I'm in the best paid job I've had to date this is quite a worrying thought.
Can someone tell me please would Barclaycard have automatically contracted me back into SERPS when I left so the tax man is putting my contributions into the governments secondary pension scheme?
or
Is the tax man still sending them to Barclaycard and they are putting them into my old scheme even though I am no longer making any contributions myself
or
Are they bouncing around the system somewhere because the tax man are sending them to Barclaycard and they are returning them because I no longer work there and neither party know what to do with them

When you are a member of an occupational pension scheme and leave employment you would be contracted back in with them. If you used a personal pension for contracting out you stay out unless you or the provider contracted you back in.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Check your statements, to see if any NI contributions have been added since you left Barclaycard.0
