    Everything which is not prohibited is permitted. If the contract says nothing either way, you are permitted to discuss. And even if it prohibits discussion, I think that the legality and enforceability is a bit dubious.
    You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

    I used to do the same job as someone who was on about 5K a year more than me, and refused to do overtime or night shifts!

    Its pretty standard for there to be variations isn't it?
