It sounds like doom and gloom, but i think its just we are witnessing a change in how things are shopped for
Other retailers, Zavvi, woolworths etc.. have all moved from a physical, high street pressence, to online, and must have some success as they continue to trade.
It may seem like shops are 'dissapearing', but i think they are just moving location
The high street, as it were known will soon(ish) be a thing of the past0 -
They had been looking more and more like a discount store the last few months, extra rails jammed in and stuff on special offer. They were good up to a year or so back but the quality of what they were selling was going down and down.
It's a shame but maybe some stores will survive0 -
I noticed this the other day when I went to go on their website. Not quite as shocking as HMV, but still a bit of a blow to those employees.0

Anyone know if the shops have sales on or have they shut completely?House saving Targets:
£17,700 / £20,0000 -
Yes definitely agree Reggie256, i think everbody is again becoming very hesitant and cautious!!
A shame as we all would like to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but i don't somehow think that is going to be this year, not as things look at the moment anyway:-(
That's an exaggeration. Retail sales are down 0.6% in a very inclement January. Economic apocalypse it ain't.
The PMI is back up above 50 (51.7). Anything above 50 suggests rising GDP (link). The PMI is the strongest leading indicator as to where the economic data are going.0 -
well, at least the rents are high and house prices are on there way up. Those landlords and boomers need that extra money for all the wealth they create. Forget the shops and stores people need to be spending 70% to 80% of their wages on keeping a roof over their head.(if they have any wages, if not the goverment will pay those lovely landlords on behalf of us, the taxpayers)0
