Hi Everyone,

I Haven't been around on here for a while, coming u to our second Anniversary :)

I have offered to do my friends food for her Wedding. She is only having an evening do starting at 5pm and finishing at 11pm.

I am unsure how much food to do per person. She wants me to do it, as I used to be the cook where she works and she liked the Christmas Party Buffet I did every year, however it was catering for alot less people and i just used to do what I considered to be a good spread !

Has anyone got any ideas of quantities based on their own experiences ?

Any advice would be greatfully received .

  • It's usually around 60% isn't it?

We went to a evening reception but ate before we went as we wasn't sure if there was going to be a buffet. There was curry and chips and rice loads of different things and then cakes and stuff, I didn't have any as we'd already eaten.

For me, if I'm going to an evening do I don't expect a meal just something light, so I wouldn't allow for loads per person. What kind of food are you doing?

Canapes is usually 6 per person, buffet usually 12 (eg 4 sandwiches, 2 sausage rolls, spoonful coleslaw, spoonful rice salad, handful crisps/nuts, slice of quiche, something sweet).

Thank you that is a big help and gives me something to work on. My Friend is saying she doesnt think people will eat much as they are all drinkers and will be drinking !

She wants things like Prawns in filo pastry , Chicken bites etc

Also she wants the food early ie when it starts so will people eat more as they may not of had a meal before ? lol

I guess it will depend on what she wants to spend per head I was think about 7.50 a head and that will include me making her cake.
