Valentine Meal Deals

  • Thanks OP and Badlass - Ive gone for the M&S as well.

Ive had the rump steak with peppercorn sauce on special occasions occasionally and always very impressed with the quality, its 28 day matured and very tender. Im aware of individual prices in M&S and I know the price of these items usually, its not a fantasy price - they do have offers on the Pink Cava sometimes though so 8.99 is the RRP. The steak, chips, tandoori prawn ring (at Christmas) and dessert prices are the normal prices you would pay there without any meal deals - ive just checked against a receipt from December when I bought some of those items for Christmas.

I priced up a couple of pieces of rump at my local butchers and also at Sainsburys and for the size and quality of the cuts I went for M&S based on the overall saving of the meal deal.

    mine was;

    Rump steaks x 2 with sauce 9.99
    Pink Cave 8.99
    Tandori prawn ring 5.49
    Chips - 1.99
    Choc heaven - 3.79
    Chocolates 3.00

total 33.25 before the meal deal

we had the tandoori prawn ring at Christmas and they were really tasty and again good quality

Be lovely to eat out but also 4 times as expensive, plus aprking, petrol, babysitters etc - this is a lovely treat for me and OH :)

    oops pressed the wrong button...

    Pinot noir 10.99
    Chunky chips 1.99
    sirloin steak 9.36
Baked emmenthal with calvados (as pudding) 4.00
    Coquille st jacques 5.29
    dine in chocs 3.00

    total £34.63
please don't tell me if I could have gotten it cheaper down the market!
  • I went for the M&S too..

    El Padruel Cava - £7.99
    Coquilee st. Jacques £5.29
    Sirloin steak - £9
    Garlic mushrooms - £2.49
    Raspberry Pannacotta - £3.29
    Chocs £3

Plus, I have staff discount too, taking it down to £16. Unbeatable. The Cava is fab, not too sweet and the sirloin steak is excellent. To have this sort of menu in a restaurant where I live would cost about £90, plus £10 taxi and £30 for a babysitter, a win-win for me!

We went for the waitrose one but won't be sitting down to a big meal. The chocs and wine are ear marked to take to friends when we go to dinner. Might have the starter, tapas, this evening. The lamb and rosti tomorrow and the sponge pud as a treat at the weekend.

It was quite a scrum at my M&S today!

I had already planned a main for our dinner so went for steaks and put them in the freezer for another night.

    Also chose:
    Thai fishcake starter
    mixed veg side
    profiteroles
    chocolates
    Sauvignon Blanc

Hope everyone enjoys their Valentine ,eal, wherever you bought it!:)
