Opt-Ins - better to say yes?

Hello all.
I never opt-in to the marketing gubbins in any comps, but I'm beginning wonder if that's a mistake. Can any more regular winners say whether they opt-in and suffer the extra spam or not? On truly random comps, it won't matter, but if there is a human element anywhere...?

I never opt in and I win enough. It's very easy for companies to make it a requirement for you to opt in if you enter their competitions so unless forced too I don't.A closed mouth gathers no feet.0

This question niggles me too. I think marketing is a big aim for lots of competitions and they are hoping you tick that box. It wouldn't seem fair if it does play a part in picking the winner but who knows - it can hardly be policed, so I suppose we have to rely on companies to be honest / fair.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0
