Been given a default without knowing about it!

Ok so I received a phonecall today saying I owe £209 on a littlewoods account.
I moved house June 12, updated my littlewoods account July 12 and paid a final amount. I received no email, phonecalls or letters until now.
A debt agency has apparently bought the debt plus given me a default last month when I failed to respond despite not recieving any letters calls from them!
I'm happy to just pay the amount despite not knowing what it is from but I want the default removed as we are getting a mortgage in the next few months!

Unfortunately even if settled the default will now remain on your credit report for six years from the date of the default.
I'd first query with Littlewoods as to whether it is a correct debt or not. If it isn't, then steps can be taking to correct the default, i.e. having it removed.
If the debt is correct, then the chance of the default being removed is extremely slim.0
