Afternoon!
Did a quick search but couldn't find a suitable existing thread.
I've just noticed today that I won an FB comp (worth £400ish) on 1st Feb but the email notification went into the 'other' bit of my messages so I didn't get it. They tried to contact me again on 4th and then today I got an email to say they've had to re-draw the prize.
I know FB rules states that promoters cannot notify winners via FB and so I have emailed them to tell them this and to ask if they can offer me a suitable consolation. I don't hold out much hope, but I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen and the prize has been re-drawn, but then they've chased the company and got their prize in the end anyway?
I probably wouldn't bother but it's a valuable win and also something that I really wanted.
Thanks!

The problem with a lot of Facebook competitions is there aren't usually many Ts&Cs unless it was run via an app?
I don't mean to sound rude but if you didn't like the way a competition was being run - ie against FB rules, then still continued to enter anyway, then it's a bit late to complain about it now? Sorry.A closed mouth gathers no feet.0 -

I remember reading a recent thread where someone had missed out on winning GHD's as they were on holiday, but contacted the company on fb and received a consolation prize.
I've missed out on a fb win before. Found out i won 3/4 months after they announced my name on fb and the company was fab and still sent me out my prize anyway (retails about £80.)0 -
Not long ago I missed out on a blog win as the blogger attempted contact via a DM on Twitter. But because I hardly ever check my DMs, I was two weeks too late and the prize was given to another! The blogger wasn't too sympathetic but what could I do - I just had to let it go! BUT I have learned my lesson and now I check my Facebook 'other' messages AND Twitter DMs every day!
So In the Red 2009, I do understand how you feel - the only thing you can do is ask for maybe a little consolation prize from the company and start checking you messages like me!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
Yes, I won a bracelet on a FB comp back in Oct but didn't realize until the it was after the claim date (by a month!:()
I contacted the company who did say they would allow me to claim, which was nice of them. However, I still haven't received the prize and I feel it would be too cheeky to ask again - so have given up.:o
Have to say it has taught me to double check my message notifications as it's easily missed.

Thanks guys! I realise I may end up with nothing, and I am well prepared for that, but for the value I am talking about I am definitely going to argue it somewhat because they a) broke FB promotion rules and b) only gave me 10 days to claim.
I had got into the habit of checking 'other' on FB last year (after another couple of missed wins) but forgot in February and of course that would be the one time something big happens!
Happy comping everyone.:beer:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
