How do I find out about networking events?

Hi Folks

Most of you would probably be aware that job seekers are always adviced to network and attend networking events in order to increase the chances of yourself getting the ideal job.

This may sound like a silly question to you, but how do you find out about networking events? Are there particular websites which may hold that kind of information?

Thanks

It depends, what industry are you looking in? For example I've seen networking events on a TV industry website and even attended one, but that's my industry.

I'd suggest looking at any industry specific websites. Or even just get out and about to classes, social events and meet people there, who may know of opportunities.

I have had some emails in the past from sites like Jobsite and Totaljobs where there have been recruitment fairs etc but do not have anything current as probably deleted the email.

Have a look online in a search and see if anything is in your area

  • Does your industry have a professional body e.g. CIPD for HR professionals? Such bodies often hold networking events.

Also, don't underestimate online networking. Look for people/groups in your sector on LinkedIn. http://uk.linkedin.com/

Practice or industry? No experience in accounts at all? Qualified?

Have you tried looking at any of the Big 4 Sites? PwC, KPMG, Deloitte or Ernst & Young?

They often have seminars / network events (generally paid ones) but worth emailing and seeing if they have anything

or, alternatively look on the AAT site:

    Hope this helps!
