if it's a church wedding, there is a very set order of how the things go, along with the church telling you at which point you will sign the register.

have you met with your church yet? i was given a clear base copy of how a marriage service runs with a sort of <insert first hymn here> format as like a say the structure is set by the church.

i suggest speaking to your vicar and talking through the service with them - this should answer all your questions. alternatively www.yourchurchwedding.org has an order of service maker on it, but you shouldn't use this for definite over what your vicar suggests.

it's also likely that your vicar will want to approve them before you print just to double check everything is in the right place.

  • Have you asked if your church provides a service for printing these? Ours does it for 40p/booklet, and this includes licence for printing any copyrighted hymn lyrics. (Some hymns can't be printed out without paying fees - so guests would have to use hymn books unless you or church organizes.)

Our church is only just starting doing weddings so nothing set that we have to do, as of yet, might be closer to the time when they've done a few weddings

is it a c of e or catholic church? if it's a newer church then that's probably different you will just need to work with them. if it's a branch of an established church (c of e, catholic etc) there is a legal ceremony that must be followed.

  • You should get in touch with your church. Ours has a template they can give you, it's very helpful and tells you how to word it, what needs to go where and which bits are compulsary and optional.
