  • :rotfl:don't worry seetec are absolutely useless and won't send you anywhere. I'm one of the people who have been with them for 2 years and are wondering what the hell are we here for!!:(
Hi, just wanted some info on the seetec work programme, as I have been put on this mandatory work am on jsa. Can anyone give me any info of what happens, and what the hours are as I was told i have to work 30 hours a week but I rang seetec up today and they told me you only work for 20 hours a week because I have children, is this correct. Also my children have half term next week will I still have to do the programme then. Look forward to hearing what you know. Emily

I know this thread is old, but I have just Googled about this as I have been referred to Seetec and am not really sure what they will do. I have to report there at the 9.30 on the 4th August for an assessment or something. I am going to the Birmingham branch.

Obviously now it's the summer holidays and my Mom will have to look after the kids. (If I was to get a job she would anyway).

Hopefully I will get a job before then so I won't have to go!

I have previously been to the Birmingham branch - they are not that brilliant and I had to badger them for my certificates - one received the other not. I did a course in retail knowledge with them.

Not overly keen on the place - didn't like having to share one toilet with everybody either regardless of whether male or female.

Take care of your belongings whilst there because I left my mobile phone on the desk whilst I wandered about 4ft to the printer and when I returned someone had pinched it - not sure what they would have wanted with an ancient Samsung phone which was about 6 years' old!

There is a lot of talking at Seetec, you are encouraged to look at their jobs wall which always seems to have out of date jobs on it. It is fairly central which is a good thing - it is up by the Mailbox. Not much else to say about the place really.

    Thanks.

How long did you have to go for?

The Jobcentre told me it would last 2 weeks and were a bit vague about what it is I'm going for. She says that they recruit for RBS and ATS and she keeps directing me towards customer service type jobs, but I mainly do office work with some telephone work involved, not call centre type as I know I wouldn't last in a job like that.

Is there a chance is will lead to a job? because if it ends up being a waste of time I'm not going to bother and I will sacrifice my JSA (it will stop in September anyway).

I went to Seetec for about 3 months. I had to go for an initial assessment to see if I could understand English and Maths. They pushed me towards call centre work and I had an interview for a company in town that provides the call centre for NPower - I did not get the job. They seem to have lots of jobs in shops - I never saw anything for RBS or ATS when I was there. I don't think that anybody who did the Certificate in Retail Knowledge with me actually found a job through Seetec. Seetec didn't work for me - I am still unemployed and I have since been to college and gained new qualifications in Word etc.

In September won't you switch to income-based JSA?

I don't think so no, because my OH works.

I think that my advisor is trying to push me towards call centre work (which I don't want, as I know I won't last), because she made me applied for 2 jobs at Teleperformance on the Hagley Road.

  • I am being put on the Seetec work programme but have Jury Service in a months time. I have spoken with my employment adviser who was about as much use as a chocolate teapot. She did not know if the jury service would affect my attendance commitments for the programme. In fact, all she was concerned about was signing me up for the programme and could not or would not answer my question.

My understanding is that I will automatically be paid JSA for the period of the jury service and not required to sign on at the job centre, but cannot get s straight answer from JobCentre Plus staff.

    Any ideas???
