Full bank accounts for ex-BRs

Went BR in April 2008 so my 5 years is coming up, only 1 year to go almost!!!
Have basic account with Barclays for nearly 4 years now plus credit cards with Capital one (£3k limit) and Creation (£8k limits combined). No debt whatsoever, everything paid in full when used etc..
Also just been approved for a mortgage with YBS, although I appreciate these are given out more carefully and with actual human intervention!
Tried for a full current account with Halifax last year as they claim to consider ex-BRs as long as it's 3 years in the past but got knocked back - could have had something to do with them being a creditor in the past but who knows. HSBC told me to jog on too at the time.
Anyone else worth applying to? Worth me chatting to Barclays? Seems I have to go into a branch to do so which is a pain.
Don't want an overdraft .. but a cheque book and a grown up card would be nice.

Good to know, thanks!0 -
I would personally wait till your house is completed before applying elsewhere. Good work on getting a mortgage approved, I assume you didn't have a reposession as part of your BR?
My 6 years was up early this month, I am still yet to get a full bank account. I am waiting a little longer to apply.
I didn't manage it before my 6 years. Remember Br isn't the only thing. Everyone will also have a number of defaults with different values too. This will be thrown into the credit scoring black hole too.
I have around 45 K as part of my BR, so I am not suprised that in combination with the BR didn't get past any automated credit scoring.
I do feel your pain wanting a full bank account. Although it's going to make absolutely no difference to me. My Nationwide basic account cash card was updated to a debit card a few years back, I remember the pain of using cash all the time.
Do barclays offer a debit card with their basic bank account?
If so, I would just be tempted to wait for another year, then it should be easier, I hope!0 -

Hi Foolish Boy,
If you dont mind me asking your mortgage with YBs did you have a high deposit ?
I have the nationwide account which i found very useful.
I'm hoping when the 6 years is up they will upgrade my account.0 -

Hi,
Not at all .. 25% deposit, 75% LTV .. their criteria state max 85% LTV for discharged bankrupts and they wont consider people with a repossession in their past.
