  • Good morning everyone.

No snow here, just grey skies, but it is dry!!! And COLD!

Morning. Snow over night and its still doing so, lightly. I hate taking kids to school in this weather, i feel so sorry for them!

I've spent the last hour trying to find out if the schools open, but council website is down. Still don't know

Thanks for new thread. Regarding Amsterdam, have you thought about staying just outside? Lovely and quiet and can be in centre in 15 mins, much better hotels etc. We are going 1st March and staying here www.carlton.nl/square bargain price for 4 star, £69 per night, fab reviews too. I like the free mini bar best, there are even decanters of whisky and brandy!!!! My OH is from Amsterdam so we are visiting family. Hope you enjoy it where ever you stay.

I stay outside the centre, in van der valk hotel, 15 min on regular bus. The hotel hire bikes very reasonably and its a lovely flat ride to neighbouring villages and you get to see real amsterdammers. There is a cheese factory across the road. Owners are lovely, it has a cafe and does classes on cheese making. I love holland.:T

Its located in volendam, just on outskirts of amsterdam.

Best hotel i stayed in was sofitel, got a bargin 1 nighter as flights cancelled due to snow!

We went skating on the canals that year and WALKED across the sea to island. A whole 3 miles. People were pushing buggies and biking to island as ferries could not get through ice. There was even a mobile cafe half way. Amazing how other countries cope in mad wearher instead of going to pot!
Please don't judge me. you couldn't handle half of what I've been through.
