i bought this frying pan from asda. http://groceries.asda.com/asda-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?trailSize=1&searchString=frying+pan&domainName=Products&headerVersion=v1&_requestid=290928

oops link dfidnt work, search on site for product code 3723903

it's absolute pants. I don't think it uses the teflon non-stick but some other material. The non stick surface feels a lot shallower than what I have come to expect from most non stick pans.

Also, the oil never seems to settle and spread out. Even when the oil is smoking and hot it still collects together along the end of the flat piece of the pan.

I got it to cook eggs, but the eggs are really dry because the oil just sits along the edge.

Can I still return this for a refund and get another branded pan or am I screwed with this? I'd like to get a tefal teflon pan rather than keep this !!!!!.

You can return the pan; tell them you are rejecting it under the Sale of Goods Act as not fit for purpose.

I wouldn't mention the fact you think the non-stick layer is thin, though, just tell them the oil puddles in one part of the pan and you're not happy.

I would wash it first though...
  • thanks - returned it fine. Staff looked a bit apprehensive about what I was saying but as soon as I mentioned that I want to exchange it for a branded one she was happy to oblige.

Got a tefal one for £8 which does the job perfectly well. Oil spreads out evenly and cooks egg real nice.

Buying cheap is a false economy IMO

I bought a frying pan from M&S cost me about £15, it has warped now and its not that old, the only reason I know is because we have a halogen hob so it should sit flat and now it doesn't, I dont have the receipt wonder if I could go back with that????
