  • For people who don't know who George Moonbat is, here is a lovely video of him on the Daily Politics show talking about why private schools should be closed down.

Just for interest, our George was privately educated at Stowe School and then went to Brasenose College, Oxford.

I wonder where he's put the ladder?

I doubt that I need to point this out, but I pretty much discounted his opinion the first time Cardew and Graham used his articles to 'put me in my place'.

I was astonished that someone could openly dismiss PV on the grounds of false facts, and future looking assumptions, that all failed to be correct.

And whilst I should apologise for repeating this for the 100th time, I simply won't today, as it so thoroughly disgusted me:

"The government is about to shift £8.6bn from the poor to the middle classes."

There is no excuse for that statement. If it was in an interview, or tweeted, maybe some tiny allowance could be given, but that statement is within an article. It would have been considered, reviewed, proof read etc.

It's only purpose is to falsely create division by misleading readers. I seriously wonder about the intention that lay behind it.

I get that cardew constantly 'defends' his position from an out of date monbiot article.

I was just wondering, I may have missed it, has monbiot made any articles recently (since that article) confirming his (cardews?) views now?

    cardew? evidence?

    Thanks

    Hi

Looking at Monbiot's self-promoting website, ( http://www.monbiot.com/ ) - probably not. However, that's not really surprising as many points of argument are purely subjective, being designed to create social division without enough reference to detail which could be used to disprove the basis of the assumptions ...

Whenever Monbiot is wrong, the standard modus operandi is to simply 'keep quiet' or reference previous erroneous articles and claim that they were correct, a denial approach which is based on the assumption that no-one will actually access the previous article to check .... for example, from the article being discussed (http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/mar/01/solar-panel-feed-in-tariff) ... 'Two years ago, I warned ' ... well, I can't see any further reference to the myriad of errors in the previous article ..... Then again, and this has relevance due to recent post (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=60630381&postcount=73), there's the 'ad hominem' approach ... I just ran a google search using the words 'monbiot hominem', the results being very interesting in terms of both quantity & quality ...

    Hi

Thinking about it, probably a much better idea would be to sacrifice the goat now and have a tasty moussaka ready for 11pm .... actually, couldn't we make it earlier?, I'll be starving by then !!

Perhaps, to ensure that a quorum is attained & if there's enough to feast on, we could make it an open invitation event and all hope that GM attends for a Q&A session at the end .... :D

I think the Grand Marshall overacted a bit issuing you with a written (in blood) warning. But in his defence you'd already pushed it the month before dressing up as Santa!

Here's an interesting little article on the National Trust and it's endeavours to generate more of it's own energy. (Originally posted on PowerSpout thread.)

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-22189743

I thought the last but one paragraph was interesting:-

"He said the Trust, an organisation loved by Britain's middle classes, had no misgivings about receiving electricity subsidies from poor people struggling to pay their bills. The subsidy system, he said, was designed to tackle climate change and the Trust wished to play its part."
