* Debt free me* Experience?

Has anyone had experience of dealing with these people for managing debt?

Mum had a consultation tonight, and will show me paperwork tomorrow, she said they charge £2,000 in fees

    Don't do it!!

Ring CCCS, Payplan or National Debtline etc.

They will do it for free and the £2000 can go towards paying off the debt, not lining the pockets of the company!

That's the thing, I'm SURE I gave her Payplans number, but she said these other lot came instead?! I don't understand!

Will have to double check tomorrow when I see the paper work. Will get the number of those other two companies, thank you :)

Sometimes if you put Payplan into google or something then some of the feepaying companies will come up as they cleverly use the same keywords.

It can be very confusing - when we first looked at Payplan, I got one website and OH got another (needless to say I got the right one :rotfl: )

Perhaps something like this has happened with your Mum but I would do anything I could to disuade her from going with these other people.

    Good luck.

Thanks again, now she's just told me she has signed *something* and given her bank details, but told them not to do anything till she has spoken to me!! Argh, she shouldn't have signed anything :( Hope she isn't bound to anything :(

There must be a get out clause, especially if she didn't really know what she was signing. Get in touch with one of the free services asap and ask their advice. They may even be open now so perhaps a call before bed would put your mind at rest and get you ready for the morning? you can give them a hypothetical (or is it hyperthetical, never did know!) situation and I am sure they will tell you that she can get out of it somehow.

she will have a 7 day cooling off period. And this is precisely why I won't have people call at my home. They pressure you so much that in the end unless you tell them to fornicate off, then you sign just to get rid of them.

Make sure she gets the right people, and she will be fine. And she will have to be firm with them as I am sure they will try some lies basically on her to try and convince her that she can't get out of it, unless she pays some money anyway or some other malarky. Perhaps you could be there when she calls them, for moral support?

Hi all, can anyone confirm this is o.k to send to them, as they say they need written confirmation. This will be sent recorded.

    Dear ******

    RE: Cancellation of agreement

I am writing in reference to the agreement for the I.D.S I signed for on the 3rd May 2007, signed with ***. On further reflection, I would like to cancel this agreement and look at a few more solutions as I told ***, and firstly, I would not commit to this agreement until I had conferred with my daughter. On doing so, I feel I cannot commit at this time.

I have returned the envelopes provided and trust you will return my personal documents i.e credit card statements/loan statements/bank statements and wage slips. I enclose an S.A.E for convenience.

    Many thanks
