dumplings in slow cooker?

I've got a beef stew in the slow cooker and normally I will put it in a casserole dish once cooked and put it in the oven and add the dumplings. Has anyone had any success with adding the dumplings to the slow cooker? If so how long do they take and what setting do you put them on? i have low/med/high settings on mine.
Thanks

Yes, I just make the dumplings and plop them on the top 20-30 minutes before it's ready to serve. I don't change the slowcooker setting - sometimes it's high, sometimes it's medium.
