2007 Comping Challenge - how do YOU calculate your winnings?

Evening all
I was just curious - when you are adding up your winnings to put in your signatures, are you only including wins that have actuallly saved you money? i.e. when you win something you were going to buy anyway, or you've sold your prize and added that value to your total winnings.
Or - are you adding the theoretical value of EVERYTHING you win and then keep, regardless of whether you actually wanted/needed that prize?
As a newbie, I was just wondering how you all do it.
Thanks

I calculate the value of what I win. If I win a cd I check the price on Amazon and add it to the total. I rarely have 'useless' prizes, although I do have some I can't personally use. For example I won a paintballing day, but as I have an injury after being assaulted I can't use it at present. I gave it to a friend who is a single mum and like myself doesn't have many treats. Some prizes I use for christmas / birthday pressies and therefore they save me money in a direct way. I like to use prizes to thank my wonderfully supportive friends who have helped me through some very hard times.
Comping does not usually replace items I would buy. It gives me extras/luxuries that I couldn't afford. Most importantly, it lets me meet some lovely people who I have come to value and who add to my quality of life as much as the prizes.0 -
Well said Prudent!!
I too use the value (lower end of course!) of the product.
I will admit it is rare to receive a prize that you really needed (although there have been some cash, washing powder, tea & coffee wins for some) but I tend see my wins as luxuries I wouldn't otherwise have.
I also intend to win my xmas this year!! (hopefully!)Jo x2007:£5181.09 2008: £6619.70 2009: £4284.49 2010: £5213.14 2011: £4980.62 2012: £3188.52

I want to do this too but how do you price something like a signed cricket shirt signed by 7 england captains i've looked all over websites and cant find another one.
Also won a signed Kelly Jones Vinyl album, again not got a clue whats its worthBest Wins of 2011:

Wins 2012:

I always just put the retail value of the item itself because unless you ebayed it, it would be impossible to value accurately.0

I put a price on everything I win - that I use/have use of. If the website that I won the item off doesnt have a value I find one from somewhere like AmazonWeight Loss - 102lb0
