  • I think they may baulk at the groceries figure.

When my mate went BR, they allowed him £375 for 2 adults and 1 child, plus an additional £20 for a dog.
  • I don't understand why you need two cars. The OR may only allow you allowances for one.
  • Hello Want to post my soa up here however, I don't know how to do it with an iPad could someone tell me please ?
    Thank you

I went BR last month and they allowed £468 for 2 adults & a baby.

Although if the figures quoted op are actual figures, then could this be a possible area to cut down?

When I went BR they didn't want to know much about my partners income, just what her contribution to the household was. Although they may ask his status briefly just to check for example the OH isn't earning £100k per year and contributing nothing to joint bills.

They probably allow quite a bit extra for a baby, due to the need for baby milk/food etc.

My mate's child was about 9 or 10 at the time, so was eating the same kind of things as my mate and his wife.

Two people would probably be allowed somewhere around the £300 - £350 mark.
  • Hi Thanks for the comments.

we need to cars as we live in the middle of no-where and the nearest bus stop is 5 miles away. I travel to work every day and the hubbie needs to be able to get out to go for interviews and signing on etc, hence two cars. Both insurances are in my name even though one car is his - it worked out £300 cheaper doing it this way.

the groceries could come down to about 350 - 380 mark. we are already cooking from scratch buying in aldi etc.

At the momment the hubbie isn't contributing because he isn't working and has no income other than JSA.

    Does eveything else seem ok?

    Thanks

Are the insurance company aware that your husband is the owner, and main driver, of one of the cars?
  • yes, they know it is his car but he is down as a named driver rather than main driver.

  • So he drives it less than you?
