Where would I find...?

Hi

A few years ago, my aunt left her job as she became a mother. However, she did get something she could do from home. She used to fit 2 parts of a lipstick together. I guess it was the manufacturer that sent them to her, she put them together then they were collected.

Where would I look for this kind of job? It's the kind of mundane work that I could do watching telly!!

Thanks
Princess nola

Make up a list of lipstick manufacturers, and ask each of them?

I suspect the answer will be that they can pay someone in India or the Far East to do this, AND ship them to the UK, for less than it would cost to pay someone in the UK to do it.....
  • I imagine googler is right,
bit like atlantic prawns, caught in the uk, shipped over to asia to get peeled and sent back and its still more profitable than having them done over here, just goes to show what damage the minimum wage over here does.

My mum used to do something similar when I was young, things like packing toiletries, bath pearls etc... putting pens together....etc...

Maybe try googling- it was a local firm my mum did it for...

  • Funny you should say that, googler and Lighthouse in the dark:) as when I read the initial post I immediately remembered that segment on one of the 'Relief' programmes where Victoria Beckham was in India and spent time with some young girls who spent all day squatting on the ground assembling lipsticks or something similar in a squalid hut.

There seems to be thousands of work-at-home jobs advertised what you have to watch out for are the scams.

I prefer to look at it like "just goes to show what damage not having a minimum wage over there does".
