will my chicken be okay to eat?

hoping someone can help me. i have just cooked a chicken my mil sent up for us. we buy from a butchers so i have no wrapping as such to remove from the chicken when i buy them. this one is from asda and i totally missed the lump of paper/floppy cardboard under it when putting it in the tin, :eek: :(. i only found it after it was cooked. will it be okay to eat still as i dont know what the paper thingy is. any help appreciated.......and to think i am a school cook, good job i get the meat from a butcher there aswell, :rotfl:

    I think just to soak any excess juices in the packaging, but don't know for definite

    the absorbent paper under a pre packed chicken is there to absorb the excess water that has been pumped into it or you would end up with a puddle in the bottom of your chicken bag!
