I hear on the "food programme" that it is possible to by a broken down nag in Eire - one of the 24,000 a year that become uneconomic - for as little as 10 euro; that leaves plenty of margin to get it certificated and chipped as having never been injected with illegal-for-humans drugs (The "horse aspirin" contains some sort of benzene ring and is a wonderful carcinogen), so it can join the other illegal migrant horses, including a large proportion of the 100,000 that go missing from USA every year.

They all meet up for a gymkhana in Europe, to compare their false passports and complain that the Schengen Agreement does not apply to horses; while marvelling that their new identity has improved their economic worth to 500 euro.
The industrial sinew extraction plant (which is what mechanically recovered meat is now called) is so much more dignified than being tipped into a land fill site and left to the maggots and flies.

With profits like that, is it really worth all the hassle of white slave trading.
