going back to vinyl - advice please!

If you're serious about vinyl, then you need a good turntable.
A few years back I was working for Doug Brady hifi and the turntables we had in the demo room were just beautiful and once hooked up to a decent amp, power amp and DAC (as well as some Wilson Benesch speakers) just as beautifully.
Or you could just go with a dirt cheap Project turntable and get a good Stylus for it.
Hifi and Vinyl in particular can get insanely expensive, but you get what you pay for.0 -
Look on lobay for items you can collect and ask on freecycle

There are good decks to be found. Not sure if I can post another web site address on here but it is a forum for vinyl lovers where you can get loads of advice - google vinylengine.
Charity shops were a good source but most now look on ebay and add a price. They don't have a clue or don't bother checking the condition so you will see an LP for £5 that looks like it has been kicked around the car park all day. You can be lucky though sometimes and pick up a bargain.
New pressings can be great or poor, depending on the label and engineering.
Still way better than the shiny silver thongs though LOL.0 -

I'm glad I didn't buy from you back then!• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
