Sugar Soap

I've just moved into a rented property and it's in need of a little bit of a clean up. General grime in the kitchen which needs a good going over (I read somewhere on here the other day that sugar soap is great for grease and grime). I'm a little nervous about using it as I don't want any paint to come off. Please could you have a check of my little list and let me know if you think it's appropriate to use on it or any alternatives if not/tips.

- Kitchen lino floor + wooden kitchen units, drawers etc
- Garden patio
- On artex (sp) walls around light switches where it's a bit grubby
- PVC wood effect window frames and windows
- Wood beams/stair cases/skirting boards which have paint on from a bad decorating job (none are varnished, they're just dark wood)

Thanks
