Work Trouser Nightmare!

I can never seem to find work trousers that fit well!

I'm an apple shape, size 16 around the waist but my bum/legs are quite small. This usually results in me wearing trousers that barely fit in the waist but look like they are hanging off me.

I have a job interview on Tuesday and I'd really like to invest in a nice smart pair of work trousers that fit me well.

Can anyone recommend anywhere or give me an idea of what to look out for?

I'm going shopping in Manchester tomorrow so a high street store preferably!

My SIL is an apple :) and has exactly the same problem! She buys maternity trousers (pretty much from anywhere that's a reasonable price) and they look much smarter than "standard" fit. Try Asda! HTH :)

Sorry can't help you OP, but it makes me wonder exactly who they are making womens trousers for as they don't seem to fit anyone!!

I have the opposite problem to you as I'm very curvy (size 10 waist and size 14 hips) so to get them to fit my hips, the waist gapes massively. Belts don't work as most womens trousers don't have belt loops and a belt would usually look crap anyway.

Good luck with the job interview, and unless it is for a style consultant or similar, don't worry, they're not going to think 'well she was good, but her trousers didn't fit very well, so we won't offer her the job' :)

A tailor/dress-maker will happily provide you with made-to-measure trousers for less than you may think.
  • Sounds silly but try asda sainsburys
