We are struggling trying to find a new mattress and frame we both like for good money!
Today, we finally went and saw mattresses. We saw 3 we like from a company called Tender Sleep. One Pocket Indulgence, one Pocket Supreme and one Organic Cotton. It was at a small independent furniture warehouse.
1. We'd like to know if anyone else out there has heard of Tender Sleep and are they good? Can't find reviews anywhere!
2. Are there any other mattresses, pocket Spring 1500-2000 that we could get for a Kingsize bed for less than £360 or have we got a good deal?
3. Bases! Would love to buy off ebay but worried about slats. We would love a 4 drawer sleigh bed, or 4 drawer leather bed stead etc but struggling to see where we'd find one of good quality!
Any other brands, cheap mattresses or general knowledge would be very helpful as OH wants to just get on and order by Monday! :j
Bedpeople of MSE, I need your help and advice. Thank you!:o

Just off the top of my head, I think £360 is a pretty good price for a a 1500-2000 spring king size. Not sure if they recommend slatted bases with pocket sprung mattresses.0

Firstly why do you want 1500-2000 springs? As it's the gauge of the wire used in the spring that'll make up how firm or soft the mattresses is. The number of springs is just that the number of springs. We seem to be obsessed with spring count for some reason, there are some very well made 1000 matts and some very poorly made 2000 etc......It's the old story you get what you pay for.
A crap mattress IMO

You should find loads of mattresses pocket sprung for under £360 if you look online.
Just put King size 1500 (or 2000) pocket spring mattress and hit google shopping and you'll go mad with the choice!
Some 2000 spring counts will be 1000 springs sat on top of another 1000 springs, so effectively your sleeping on the same number of spring per square inch as such as a 1000 springs mattress.
Maybe a few in the stores you'll find pocket sprung matts for under £360, but with over 100 different manufacturers of mattress in the UK you should be spoiled for choice online.
All pocket sprung mattresses are fine for slatted beds as long as the slats are not too far apart from each other, if you're worried put a board down on top of the slats.
Now to the bed, most frames do NOT comes with drawers, 2 reasons, it expensive to make but also if the bed is not square then the drawers are very difficult to open. Bear in mind that on a divan 4 drawers will add £100 to the cost of the bed, I reckon it'll be at least £200 extra for a frame with the extra work and materials needed.
You haven't said what the budget is for the frame, but I'm guessing you'll looking at £500 plus for a decent leather or wooden frame with drawers. You could always buy an ottoman, you know the type where the whole base lifts up. the market is flooded with imports of them.

One word of warning any bed frame that has storage underneath and a slatted base will let in ALL the dust into the items that you are storing.
Hope that helps a little.Helping the country to sleep better....ZZZzzzzzzz0
