How long before chasing feedback?

I was told they were hoping to short list by end of this week. I haven't heard anything yet.

I really want to chase them as it is my dream job and I have an interview somewhere else on Wednesday but I really want to hold on for this other job.

I don't want to come across as too pushy and desperate, how Long would you wait?

If they definitely used the word hoping then they may not have shortlisted yet.

If you have made the list I am sure they will be in touch but unless they would call you in at short notice I would not chase till at least mid week and ask if they have managed to get to a short list and if you were on it.

They may not have shortlisted yet. With the best will in the world, it's flu season, and a key person may not be in. Or there may have been a work emergency. You just don't know.

I'd get in touch mid week I think. And I'd phrase it as 'I wondered if you have shortlisted yet?' rather than 'am I on the list?' It's just a more polite opening and won't put the back up of someone who may already be under pressure for reasons you don't know about.
