Trouble is with saying you left for whatever reasons is that the prospective employer will wonder why you didn't stay until you found something, instead of leaving first. I'd think it's better to say that you were let go because of lack of work or something. It makes you look more reliable.0

Yes, when the new jobs writes for a reference and asks why the job eneded and they do not put the same thing as you have said.If I say I was made redundant, is there any way that somebody could find out that I wasn't though? We’ve had to remove your signature. Just say that there were cutbacks due to the current economic climate. After that nobody wants to discuss it further as its such a common scenario at the moment. You could also add in that you were ready to move on to a position with more hours, better prospects and a positive culture, which you are sure you will find here (new job). Good luck, its not an easy job market out there!"I AM DEATH, NOT TAXES. I TURN UP ONLY ONCE."- Terry Pratchett0

Just remember if you are honest you wont be lying awake at night worrying about it. White lies usually come out in the end. Good luck with future job applications. The right job will find you in the end
