! Your posts are always phrased with enough sympathy to be kind but enough honesty to be helpful and always blatantly honest. And all that when i know you are suffering physically - a lot more than i manage!

Glad to hear itYou've beaten yourself up enough now. You are doing something positive about the situation so ease up on yourself. As my good friend said to me a few days ago "put it in the f*** it bucket, you're doing all you can now give yourself a break" (quite a shock because she rarely swears!) The other quote/example I like is the monkey in the lion king when he whacks Simba over the head with a stick and eventually the lion ducks - it's happened and you can't change the past, learn from it and move on
There's ALWAYS something funny if you look hard enough. Find the funny and you diminish the upset and fear. Might take some doing but I promise it's there and it'll make things easier.

DD1 is giving me funny looks as I just laughed at this and she's watching a "really intense bit" of Twilight (her words) - apparently sparkly vampire movie breaks from GCSE revision helps to focus when she goes back to her books:undecided

I assume she means one of Robert Pattinsons intense stares into distance or one of Kristen Stewarts cross eyed durrrr's into the middle distance?

Hi Everyone,
Hope I'm posting in the right place (it seems like a friendly thread). For years I have been struggling to pay my debts until the lightbulb moment happened two weeks ago. I got a letter from Halifax telling me that they are withdrawing my O/D which I lived in. I got myself into such a state that I was experiencing panic attacks, anxiety and insomnia which were really affecting my work.
I'd given up all hope until I started reading the posts here. I phoned StepChange today about a DMP which they were fine about. I just wanted to know if anyone has been refused by the following lenders:
Littlewoods
Very
Next
Halifax
Vanquis
Capital One
Barclaycard
I have been literally borrowing Peter to pay Paul.
Also will I be pestered on the phone by the creditors in the first weeks? What do I tell them.
Sorry for all the questions but I'm still a bit shaky!LBM 2 June 20140 -
Hi,
So... Barclaycard...
I've made a complaint re. the interest being charged and also them having put AR on my credit file instead of just defaulting.
I got a call today from (actually a very sweet lady who seemed to be on my side) telling me that the complaint cannot be upheld as I'm paying more than 1% of my balance so interest is appropriate? Also that as I'm in a DMP it's an unofficial arrangement to pay (hence AR marker) and will get a final rejection to me within the next 3-4 weeks as it comes out from a different dept. within the organisation?
Honestly she seemed to contradict herself quite a lot but as she sounded so sweet and when I said I'd probably complain to the FOS as well she said I might as well LOL
Now, my DMP payments have reduced and I'll be paying @ 0.5% of my balance each month for an unknown (but hopefully short) period of time and she said that they may after 6 months of the reduced payment either default or freeze interest!
I'm a bit lost LOL I don't expect the FOS to uphold my complain (although it would be nice) but why oh why does BC seem to treat everyone in such different ways?

Hi, I'm just starting out too, sent SC forms off Friday, I went online and opened a Nationwide account - not attached to any of my creditors - it was really simple - few days later I received letter to take ID into branch for confirmation and signatures (I could have posted) - I was given my account number and sort code there and then. I received debit card about a week later and online details a little after that - now all switched up and running:)
There are a number of us newbies on here, the support is tremendous and from my point of view is making all of this a much less daunting task and proposed journey:)
Wow - number plates - it's another world - would I if I could though ? Nah...hope you enjoy your 'quiet' day Kate - love them to bits but yes love the silence too:)
Sarah
Edit: oops somehow missed a few posts response out of sync0 -
Very -Accepted DMP offer to pay but eventually sold to a DCA who also acceptedthey'll confirm the payment plan on your monthly statement
Vanquis - Spot on, really good to deal with and confirmed acceptance in writing
Capital One - Never heard a peep but have been accepting payments without issue
Barclaycard - Accepted but seem a tad sly, the amount being paid dictates the terms of plan agreed upon (I.e. if they freeze or just reduce interest) but chase them to confirm they have DMP details on file and have accepted or they'll ignore you and keep charging... Ok when they agree

Hi Fuzz,
Some comments above re. creditors I have experience of...
You may get a few calls but just smile "I've entered into a DMP with Step Change, my reference is XYZ and they will be in touch with you shortly with an offer of payment" and it'll all work out in the end
P.S, both Peter and Paul called... They're happy for you to repay them by DMP
