  • Lovely day here too, really makes you feel good :j

I am updating my spreadsheet and looking at end of next month's targets - I want to be under £25K and 70% paid off. Watch this space ......

HH - you are getting so close, I can't wait to see my twin's name on the debt free role of honour :T

Great news. Under 25 and over 70% sounds wonderful.

Thanks re close. Not stressed, but flipping inpatient for sure lol.

Me too. Next month we should be just under the £20,000 mark! Plus we have paid off another debt in full. Fourteen debts (12 creditors) are now down to eleven and hopefully another one will be gone by the summer. :j:j

    More good news :)

    It's infectious!

well done TTFM, GUO and HH all great positive news and you can almost touch that DFD HH.

Gives us all something to look forward to. I am still plodding slowly with Hfx no default despite warning to respond on 12.03.14 still paying them but not speaking to them in the hope they will just default me. see what this months correspondance says.

    Have a good week all

Hi there I am after a bit of advice on DMP's really considering getting help because I cannot get further and keep having to borrow and put basics on the credit card.

Long story is we had our first child 12 months ago and never cut back budgeted or slowed the lifestyle, my wife had to change jobs returning to work and has had to take a much lower salary.

So cannot get out this hole on my own typically how long does a DMP take.

My payment to creditors is now higher than my mortgage and feel I am robbing Peter to pay Paul

Mine is going to take just over four years. It all depends on how much you owe and what you can afford to pay off each month.

  • And the contact has begun...

HSBC have been calling and I have been dodging the calls :( DH answered tonight, I spoke to them, explained the situation, my loan account is on hold for 60 days now :)

She apologised for bothering me (I explained I asked to be contacted in writing mainly because I'm having surgery in 2 weeks). Told me not to worry, step change are brilliant and it's unlikely I'll have to deal with them directly again! Couldn't have wished for a better outcome.

Didn't think to mention the other two debts with them until after I'd hung up but I'm far less worried now. Weirdly I feel really pleased that it's all happening and after the call I feel a huge weight has been lifted already.

    Hi Kate

You are doing great, it will be a relief once it's all sorted and hopefully you can settle down to recover from the op with a few less worries.
May find you get more calls about other debts with HSBC as sometimes companies don't communicate within their own accounts.

Best way I've found is to let them leave a message and then call back when it's convenient to you and you have the SC ref to hand, however I do understand these are really difficult conversations to have.

Keep going as you are, it will be ok

Thanks Sazzie, they call at the worst times! As I'm on the school run, at work (I work in an open plan office and the walls have ears!, and while I'm doing homework with the kids! I did suspect the loan account might be dealt with separately I'm just hoping the next calls are as easy to deal with.
