  • Thank you Puzz - you are a star as always!
I'm a greenfield sight for sore eyes, and sore eyes are just needing the light, the shapes, and the shadows of the space we share, before it splits into Thin Air.
  • My DMP starts next month, so far as I can make out only Barclaycard are the only ones not to have not frozen interest, it is 0.251% per month - and I have heard nothing at all from them, which I gather is not uncommon.

Should I write to them again now and request they freeze or wait until the DMP is up and running for a few months. I have already sent a couple of letter when making token payments, I used this address, is there another I should try?
    Barclaycard
    Barclaycard House
    1234 Pavilion Drive
    Northampton
    NN4 7SG
    Mail Van Area 24

This is the address for the payment department. I sent mine there but haven't a clue if it's the right place?!

Payments: Barclaycard, Department PP, Bolton, BL11 1XX.

    Hi Coinmachine,

I'd been on my DMP for 7 (I think) months when I contacted Barclaycard as they're charging me 0.56% interest and was eventually contacted to advise that it was due to the amount being repaid in relation to the size of my debt (see below) but to be honest from what I have read on here I wasn't surprised as others have posted the same and when contested it was rejected... I'm not saying you shouldn't try but I don't want you to set your expectations too high :(

To put this into perspective I entered into my DMP with £2200(ish) of debt being repaid at £33(ish) of which £11(ish) is charged back in interest so my BC debt was going down at about £22 per month.

Since then I've been making overpayments here and there when I can afford to (a couple of quid per week soon adds up) so I can ensure that the timescale is consistent with my other debts :)

As for replies? I sent a letter to the address mentioned above but also copied and pasted it into their online complaints form to which they replied within about a week with a reference to trace it online... Their online tracking system is a bit pants to be fair, and it took maybe 2-3 weeks to get a written response from them.

    Hope this helps some?

  • My husband has just received his barclaycard statement and default charges letter and there is a "contact us by post address" it is:

    Barclays Bank PLC
    PO BOX 9131
    51 Saffron Road
    Leicester
    LE18 9DE
  • Interesting credit report info from Noddle. I started on my DMP in November and these are the status of the relevant creditors.
Natwest creditcard 1: Default in February after Early arrears marker in January.
Natwest creditcard 2: Early Arrears January and February so expecting a default in March.
(all good so far I think)
M&S 'Late Payment' showing DM in January
    MBNA: Sustained arrears in Janaury
Barclaycard: Up to date!!! With just 2 early arrears in November and December.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

Quote from MB. 11. Important - It's still your debt! Your DMP provider is doing the dirty work but you still need to make sure that they have the correct information to work with so keep checking your statements and making sure that you challenge any interest or charges yourself and keeping your actual debt balance updated with your provider to avoid any unwanted surprises towards the end... It also gives you the confidence of being in control and some creditors seem to take note (DCA's in particular) and occasionally make early settlement offers (which aren't to be afraid of, they can offer - you don't need to reply to or accept them )

Just wanted to reiterate this point, even though SC - or other plan providers - will do the best they can for you, there is usually still more you can do for yourself. I would never have know this until I came to this thread, so I'm very grateful to everyone who contributes.

Good advice from MB and Sazzie - I've had my DMP running for around 9mths or so now and only recently updated my account with the latest statement info from my creditors. I should have done so much sooner, but been busy with 'life issues' and so had put my letters aside for several months always promising to review my account.

Long story short... quite a few of my balances were higher than I thought, mostly due to interest charges at the outset, which have all but disappeared now (all bar one - nasty Halifax). Of course the revision has altered my DFD :( but I'm now back on track with things and have made a promise to myself to update everything no less than quarterly from now on.
    LBM: March 2013 / DMP Start: 1 July 2013 / 14 Creditors
    Debt: £80,473 / DFD: [STRIKE]Nov 2018[/STRIKE] June 2018
    Update (Aug14): Debt 62,920 (22% paid) / 11 Creditors

    Bwah ha ha haaaa...

I get paid again soon and since I have some cash left over from some stuff I've sold online recently which I can top up with a bit of my pay I'm gonna be sniping at some low hanging fruit!

Say your prayers Barclays overdraft and Very account...

I know I should really make a payment to my Barclaycard since they're still charging me interest but it's just too tempting to shell out £105.97 and wipe these two balances of the face of the Earth!!!

LOL ok, I'm getting a little carried away I think but in my mind these two debts are little nasty snot monkeys quaking in their boots knowing the end is nigh!!!

    Bwa ha ha haaa!!!

Oh I do hope there is some serious moustache twirling to go with the evil laugh!

I know what you mean though, ticking off those paid up debts from the long list is so satisfying:rotfl:

  • Lo and behold got home and have a letter from Barclays. Interest reduced to 3% per annum. I think maybe ill let tings run for a few months and then think about asking them to reduce for what its worth....
