Anatonic is quite right and worrying about what ifs doesn't do you any good.
I've been paddling the dmp river for three years and apart from the usual threat o gram nonsense I've not had a whiff of court action, or anything really.
For the record i also have a lot of equity in my home.
Good luck all newbies, you will be fine.I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

Hi Still Skint
I think it pretty rare for creditors to go to court if you set a DMP with a recognised debt management charity such as .

I'm having an odd weekend  trying to catch up with jobs around the house but one thing leads to another and then I can't do that job because I need to buy something to finish it etc etc
Just feel like I'm chasing my tail again and it's such a slog. I have the beginnings of a frozen shoulder so that doesn't help.

Maybe so, but you are dealing with it exactly as if you were with a company, so I'd imagine the courts would not treat you any differently. But I genuinely doubt it would come to that - so keep focussed.I'm having an odd weekend  trying to catch up with jobs around the house but one thing leads to another and then I can't do that job because I need to buy something to finish it etc etc

It's a pain when things seem to conspire to bring your mood down, but I'm mega impressed with how you've been handling your debt free plans, so keep your chin up
Hope the shoulder improves and don't overdo things. If the sun is shining where you are, why not head out for a walk, mooch about in a park, go for an impromptu picnic, or just laze - we all deserve a break and time to recharge the old batteries. Do what I've been doing all weekend, giving myself a bit of TLC.LBM: March 2013 / DMP Start: 1 July 2013 / 14 Creditors

Hello one and all,
Good to see some new names cropping up and well done to all those starting off their DMP journey. I've found this forum to be an absolute god send in the early 'dark' days -and although my first payment to SC is yet to be made, I feel very positive about the future.
I've spent the weekend catching up on odd jobs, but most of the time being quite lazy. There's always stuff to do about the house and garden, and I ought really to have done more -but I just felt like giving myself time out and have gone out for a couple of bike rides (on my new bike) and wobbled around country lanes trying to get my bike legs back.
Had far to much wine to drink on Sat night (went to a wedding reception), so yesterday I was nursing a well deserved hangover -but today I'm up with lark and raring to go. Not sure what I'm doing yet, but I'm up for it, whatever it isLBM: March 2013 / DMP Start: 1 July 2013 / 14 Creditors

Thanks Suseka. I guess sometimes a little thing can drag you down but another little thing may perk you up again!

You don't need to be with a company but this is why when we left CCCS/StepChange, I used the CAB NED DMP so you can quote CAB if any of the creditors kick off.
I don't agree with it and certainly don't condone it but I do recognise that creditors do seem to take things more seriously if an organisation is involved.LBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Hi All,
Welcome Dizzydi, Still Skint and Keeping calm on your DMP journey. After reading a your posts, thought i would tell you how im doing (as it seem im approx 6 weeks in front of you). I felt exactlty the same as you i was worried for the letters, phone calls and the possibility of a visits regarding my debts. After i posted the initial letters i was scared of answering the telephone, opening mail etc etc, but now after loads of forum reading and help from stepchange i realise there is no need to worry anymore. I have a structured plan in place and my debts will be paid.:) On the note of calls and mail, i have had 0 calls regarding my debts and the only letters i have had are standard ones, missing payment, default notices etc etc which were expected. So honestlty dont worry about it, its only money.
This forum is amazing though loads of help and support here !.
On a positive note i had a PPI claim for my Barclays CA & OD and they paid out £3000, managed to clear my OD and put some on my CC. 1 debt paid !! :T

Hi
I have had a plan with churchwood for about 4 years now. Im getting a bit annoyed as they send payments to my creditors late and have been reducing the amounts they pay to them without my knowledge. I then find out when the creditors call me to ask me why the payments are lower.
Would it be better if i pay them directly myself. I am a bit annoyed that out of the £173 I pay £50 of it is taken as a charge for their fee.
I am seriously considering taking on the payments again myself as it might be easier. How would i cancel the agreement with churchwood and how would i contact the creditors to tell them what i am doing?0 -

Hi
I would ditch this lot straight away. If you don't want to go it alone then go with one of the free DMP providers like Step Change or Pay Plan.
Write to them cancelling the agreement. I don't know how much notice you will have to give them but that should be stated in the agreement when you signed up with them.
If you want to go it alone then write to all your creditors (or phone if you are brave enough) to tell them what you are doing. You can always use CAB NED DMP as TTFTM suggested.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421
